4 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Social Media in 2022

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

If quarantine has proven anything to us, it’s that we sure spend a lot of time consuming content.

Oh, and that your business should invest in Social Media Marketing.

Whether it’s 4 episodes in a row of Tiger King on Netflix in 2020, or just burying your face in Facebook for 2 hours without realizing what you just did, we spend A LOT of time online.

As a business owner, you should do everything you can to make sure you find your customers where they are.

And while they’re at home, they’re online.

Here are four reasons why your business can’t afford to NOT be on Social Media in 2022.

1. Your customers are online.

As mentioned above, the customers you want to reach are online. Investing in billboards, radio ads, or print ads these days probably isn’t going to cut it.

People are spending more and more time online, particularly on social media.

That fancy “Screen time” report your Iphone sends you? Yeah, it’s likely going to show that it’s predominantly social media activity.

2. It’s easier for customers to make a purchase decision online.

Put yourself in the shoes of the customer. Are you more likely to buy from something you heard on the radio, or from an ad you see on Facebook?

Chances are, you aren’t going to remember what you heard or saw on your way home. You’re still going to be thinking about that senseless comment your coworker Sarah made while you were standing at the coffee pot.

Anyways, back to my point.

When a customer can see the ad and directly go to a landing page that shows them the product or service you’re offering, you’ve made it incredibly easy, and relatively pain free for them to make a purchase decision.

The longer the process a customer has to go through to get to the point where they can make a purchase decision, the lower the conversion rate.

Keep it easy for them.

3. Advertisements from a dormant account look fishy.

We’ve all seen it.

An ad from an account that hasn’t invested more than 5 minutes on their account in the past 3 years.

As a business, you should consistently post to your business’s social media accounts to ensure that you have a strong brand image.

If the customer you’re targeting is anything like me, they’re going to click on your account to see if you’re legit.

If you haven’t posted in years, have irrelevant content, or appear to not care, I’m going to ignore your offer.

Don’t lose out on potential customers by failing to consistently care about your customers and your presence online.

4. Business is an exchange of value.

Business is an exchange of value. Nothing more, nothing less.

The money you receive from a customer comes in exchange for the value that your product or service brings them.

By investing in social media, you can provide content to your customers that bring them value.

Eventually, you will have provided them with enough value that they begin to both: Trust your brand, and feel indebted to you.

They will be more likely to make a purchase decision based on all the value you bring them.

Conclusion:

In today’s increasingly digital business landscape, the need for businesses to invest in their social media presence has become more and more important.

A well-rounded brand should have a strong physical presence and a strong digital presence. Customers are on social media more than ever, and it is time for your business to meet them where they are.
